Troubleshooting
Windows blocks the installer
Section titled “Windows blocks the installer”The preview is not yet code-signed. First verify that:
- the installer came from the official Glub Browser Releases page; and
- its SHA-256 hash matches
SHA256SUMS.txt.
After both checks pass, use More info and Run anyway in SmartScreen.
Typing triggers browser commands
Section titled “Typing triggers browser commands”Select the text field with f hints. Glub should enter page input automatically. If the webpage no longer needs typing, press Esc to return to browser controls.
Some websites replace or move fields after loading. Run f again and select the current field.
A command does nothing
Section titled “A command does nothing”- Open Ctrl + ? to see commands for the current view.
- Remember that uppercase commands such as W, T, and D require Shift.
- If a webpage owns a text field, press Esc before using browser commands.
- A modal may intentionally limit commands to those shown in its footer.
A site permission is blocked
Section titled “A site permission is blocked”Open Window Overview with W, select the site’s tile, and press i. Review the origin and the permission choice in Site Controls.
Sensitive permissions default to denied, and private mode does not retain permission exceptions after it ends.
A site behaves differently in Glub
Section titled “A site behaves differently in Glub”Try disabling protection for the selected site through Site Controls. Network or cosmetic filtering can affect sites that couple application behavior to advertising or tracking scripts.
If the site still fails, capture the website address, the action you attempted, and whether it works in another Chromium browser before reporting the issue.
A download disappeared
Section titled “A download disappeared”Leaving private mode clears private download records. It does not delete a file that already reached the Windows Downloads folder.
Search Downloads with D, then f. Use Show in folder when that action is available.
An update has not appeared
Section titled “An update has not appeared”Preview updates are checked shortly after launch. When one is available, Glub opens an update dialog with the version and release notes. Confirm that:
- you installed a packaged preview rather than running a development build;
- the machine can reach GitHub; and
- the newest release is marked as a compatible public preview; and
- your installed version is 0.1.2 or newer.
Version 0.1.1 was configured with the wrong update repository and requires one manual upgrade from the official Releases page. If a later version begins a download but cannot finish it, Glub displays the failure in the update dialog.
Report a documentation problem
Section titled “Report a documentation problem”Use Edit page at the bottom of a documentation page to propose a correction, or open the documentation repository. Do not include passwords, private browsing history, or other sensitive information in an issue or screenshot.
